Audition Details

We are holding auditions for select roles in our upcoming production of Cabaret.

 

Book by Joe Masteroff, Music by John Kander, Lyrics by Frank Ebb.

Directed by Jeremy Hutton.  Musical Direction by Robert Popoli.  Choreography by Adam Sergison.

 

  • Cast Size: (15 Performers)
  • Dance Requirement: Dance is required; Cabaret Dancer roles are demanding.
  • Vocal Requirement: As Indicated

 

Step into the seductive and shadowy world of Cabaret, where the bright lights of the Kit Kat Klub illuminate a Berlin teetering on the edge of change. We are currently seeking adult performers for the roles of Clifford Bradshaw, Ernst Ludwig, and Cabaret Dancers.

 

  

  • Cliff Bradshaw – (Male-presenting, 20s-30s, tenor/baritone) An American writer traveling through Berlin who becomes entangled in the world of the Kit Kat Club. Must have strong acting skills and a compelling presence.

 

  • Ernst Ludwig – (Male-presenting, 30s-50s, baritone) A friendly but mysterious German who befriends Clifford. Must have strong acting skills and stage presence.

 

  • Cabaret Dancers – Seeking dynamic performers with strong dance skills and stage presence. All gender identities welcome. Must attend the mandatory dance call at 12:00 PM.

 

 

Auditions 

Auditions will be in-person only February 7 in Toronto ( Spadina & Bloor / Spadina Station).  Only those selected for an audition will be contacted. 

Dance Call: 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM (mandatory for Cabaret Dancers)
Individual Auditions: 1:30 PM onward (by invitation)

 

 

  • Rehearsals:  In person in Toronto from February 10 – March 9.  (4 part-time weeks, with tech rehearsal starting March 10, leading into the opening on March 14.  Rehearsal schedule will be slightly flexible based on availability, but will generally take place Wed-Sun.

 

  • Performance Dates: Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in Toronto from March 14 – April 27 (No performances Easter week). Performances are approximately 2 hours 45 minutes. 

 

  • Vaccine Requirement: We require all performers and crew to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 in order to participate in this production.

 

  • Compensation: $5000 for the project, inclusive of rehearsal and performances.  

 

About Cabaret:

Set in the decadent days of the Weimar Republic, this iconic musical follows the lives of Sally Bowles, a free-spirited cabaret singer, and Clifford Bradshaw, an American writer, as they navigate the thrilling and dangerous world around them.

Blending glamour with grit, Cabaret explores love, identity, and the price of freedom against a backdrop of political tension.
